Licensing

Tagaris has a free plan, paid Team plans sold by seats, and a free beta programme for the newest integrations. What each plan includes, and current prices, are on the pricing page. This guide covers the mechanics: getting a key, applying it, and what happens over the life of a licence.

Getting a key​

Purchase a plan on the pricing page. The licence key is sent by email within a few minutes of checkout. If it has not arrived within an hour, check your spam folder, then contact support@goodhallsolutions.co.uk and we will issue it manually.

Device sync (Intune and Jamf) and the Entra people import are free beta features. Request a beta key from beta@tagaris.co.uk. A beta key is applied in the same way as a purchased key and can be held alongside a paid licence.

Applying a licence​

  1. Sign in as the install owner (the account created by the setup wizard).
  2. Go to Settings, then Application, then Licence.
  3. Paste the key into the licence box and apply.

Applying a purchased key contacts the licensing service once, to activate this install and collect a signed certificate. Day to day checks then happen offline on your own server. A key can be active on a limited number of installs at once; if you hit the limit, remove the licence from an old install first, or contact support.

Air-gapped servers​

If the server cannot reach the internet, email support@goodhallsolutions.co.uk with the install ID shown under the licence box. We reply with a licence file, which you paste into the same box. A licence file verifies entirely offline; the install never needs internet access.

More than one licence​

More than one licence can be active at the same time, for example a seat plan plus a beta key. Entitlements combine: features add together, and the seat and organisation limits are the highest any active licence grants.

Renewals and refresh​

  • An annual licence's certificate covers the full term. The install does not contact the licensing service again until renewal.
  • A monthly licence refreshes once a day while the subscription is active. That daily check is how a cancellation takes effect.
  • The Refresh button on a licence fetches its latest state on demand, applying renewals and upgrades immediately.
  • Remove deactivates this install from the licence, freeing the activation for another server.

Moving to a new server​

Restoring a backup onto a new server keeps the install ID, so the licence carries over and keeps working. For a fresh install (no backup), remove the licence from the old server if it still exists, then apply the key on the new one.

If a licence lapses​

Nothing is deleted and you are never locked out of your data.

  • For 14 days after expiry everyone keeps working while admins are warned to renew. One caveat: paid features (including single sign-on) switch off at expiry itself. The grace period covers password sign-in for existing users, so in a single sign-on organisation users sign in with passwords (or the owner renews) during grace.
  • After that the instance reverts to the free plan, which allows a single user. One retained user keeps access; other accounts are suspended, not deleted, and are told what has happened when they sign in.
  • Renewing restores every suspended account at once.

Assets, history and exports are untouched throughout. The free plan is never limited by the number of assets or by export.

Evaluation without a licence​

The free plan needs no key at all. For development or an internal evaluation of the paid features, a self-hosted install can be run with LICENCE_ENFORCED=false in its environment, which enables everything without a licence. Production installs should leave enforcement on; when you are ready to buy, plans and prices are on the pricing page.
